About

I am a communications manager specializing in writing, digital media and media relations, with a special focus on the education sector. Building from a strategic foundation, I deliver communication plans to meet organizational objectives. As a writer and photographer, I am experienced at creating online and print content for corporate communications and media. I possess stakeholder engagement experience encompassing internal and external audiences.

My career in communications started in earnest after I graduated with a BScEcon (Hons) and an MScEcon from Aberystwyth University’s International Politics department.

DCP I began as a reporter at the Henley Standard, before moving to the Basingstoke Gazette. I became the Gazette’s political reporter and, later, its chief reporter. This was followed by a move to South West Wales Media, where I was a political reporter for the South Wales Evening Post, which is Wales’ largest selling newspaper, the Carmarthen Journal and the Llanelli Star.

I subsequently moved to Vancouver as a permanent resident of Canada and deepened my communications knowledge by completing a public relations course at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. My work in the education sector began with a spell as a web communications specialist with Surrey Schools. I later joined Vancouver School Board as a communications and engagement specialist, though I spent much of my time there acting in a senior capacity. I am now media and communications manager at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

I occasionally do some freelance work, so if you would like to discuss putting my communication skills to work for your organization please get in touch.

Away from work, I enjoy photography and keeping active. I play and watch a variety of sports. I have completed nine marathons and hope to complete a tenth soon.
